Poetic narratives selected from fifteen years of free verse and prose poems, this collection sketches a professor’s history. Whole decades have been omitted in order to focus on this man’s early struggles with what is now called gender identity and a later-in-life choice to accept being gay.

Family members, friends, and colleagues are described, given their own voice or spoken to in stories that are sometimes inspired by Greek myths. The poet’s language is both celebratory and ironic in showing how he and others around him are influenced by the communal values and restrictions of the “time zones” in which they live.
